O`ahu Island Drumline Placement
O`ahu Island Drumline Placement
The most important thing to remember is that
everyone will be able to partake in this unique and unforgettable performance
and the unbelievable travel opportunity that comes with it. It will truly be an amazing trip!
As you are aware of, making decisions regarding placement of
musicians to instruments is an extremely difficult task. Your drumline staff comes in with a
wealth of experience that has been groomed over time working with drumlines and
various performance situations. The percussion staff has to take many factors
into consideration including ability, experience, conditioning and
instrumentation in order to come up with a drumline for this kind of unique
performance situation.
Because of the limited rehearsal time to prepare for this kind of
performance situation-this drumline is setup according to the abilities of the
musicians at this point in time taking into consideration the varied levels of
experience and abilities of all the musicians. It is at no way is an indication of
your potential as a musician. Decisions are also made on instrumentation according to the size of the band and
the need to have a musically balanced ensemble. Unfortunately because of the unique
rehearsal schedule we are unable to make decisions based on your potential abilities. The selections are also made with the
expectation that that all performers continue to attend all rehearsals and
participate with maximum effort. If
these expectations are not met then changes may be made to instrumentation at
the discretion of the staff/director.
If your instrument assignment is cymbal/toere please come to the
next rehearsal with a pair of cymbals. As
they become available we will let you know if that is the instrument you will
be playing. If your instrument
assignment has an asterisk* next to it please bring that instrument to the next
rehearsal and understand that the final assignment may change depending on
availability of instruments and also your continuing ability to meet
expectations regarding marching and playing.
