***Attention all O'ahu Island Performers-Kamehameha Tournament of Bands11/5***

***Attention all O'ahu Island Performers***
For those of you not marching with your school band at the Kamehameha Tournament of Bands on 11/5, you will enter through the admission gate with your instrument and dressed either in your school band uniform or dressed in our HASMB uniform(aloha shirt, lei po'o, black slacks and black shoes). It will be free admission for performing musicians/dancers/letters/guard only. Any accompanying (family/friends) people with you will have to buy a ticket for admission.

The makai classroom on the field level will be available for you to store your instrument until our performance. When Moanalua is on the track, all HASMB members (in the stands and those with your bands) will need to head down to that classroom to assemble your instrument. When Kamehameha is on the track, you will make your way out to set up in the block. Once Kamehameha is finished performing, the HASMB will get in place on the sideline and be ready for our first public performance. Please do not walk across the track from the mauka (scoreboard side stairs) and please do not make your way down when a band is performing on the field.

Gates open at 4pm and TOB starts at 5pm. It is highly encouraged for you to come early and support the bands that will be performing. Best of luck to all on our first performance!

Attention O'ahu Island Drumline Members

ATTENTION ALL O'AHU HASMB DRUMLINE MEMBERS!

We will be distributing drums for Snare, Tenor and Bass Drum players on O'ahu at rehearsal this Sunday, Oct 23.  We will meet at the Kamehameha Kapālama High School band room 30 minutes before the start of rehearsal for this distribution.  You will no longer need to bring your own drums to rehearsal (or on the tour) with the exception of Kanani Vierra (Kahuku), Jonah Nichols (Kailua), and Caleb Jones (Kailua) as you three will be using your own (schoolʻs) drums.  You still need to bring sticks to rehearsal (and your own stick bag if you need one)  Please also bring a drum key with you for carrier adjustments.

Please print, read and sign the following form (along with your parents) and bring it with you on Sunday.  You will be responsible for these drums for the duration of time listed on the form, including bringing the drum with you on tour and back to O'ahu.  We will meet shortly after the end of tour on O'ahu to collect all the drums from you.

Click on link to download the form (form is posted on the HASMB Facebook page):

A Special Message To All Performers from Mr. Riggle

A Special Message To All Performers from Mr. Riggle

If you have not made arrangements to be excused from school or work, NOW is the time request a leave of absence by letting school counselors, teachers, administrators,or, in the case of work, your supervisors know about your absence on the following dates:

Musicians/Color Guard/Letter Girls
M,T,W  11/21,11/22,11/23.
Itinerary says we leave 11/18, but most of those flights are "red-eyes".., so you should be able to attend school that day.

Dancers...will be departing earlier than the rest of the group on 11/18, so you would most likely need to request a half day off or the entire day.
F,M,T,W  11/18,11/21,11/22,11/23.

All other family members or accompanying travelers should make arrangements as they see fit.

Please note that this is an independent trip, and not a DOE field-trip, so it is your responsibility to bring a request note for a leave of absence from your parent or legal guardian, along with an itinerary to the proper school person, in order that you may get missed assigments,or ask permission to make up any work or tests.  Every school does it differently. Make sure you are caught up with all work before asking for time off.

Itinerary may be found in the secured section of the HASMB website. Print what you need and present to your teachers.

If there are questions, please email me at: jrlani@hawaii.rr.com or ph 388-0301

DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!!
